Campus Safety Act

Your campus police department works hard to ensure that everyone in the SDSU community is aware of safety issues that may affect them. The Campus Safety Act, also known as the Jeanne Clery Act, requires universities to report annual crime statistics, provide timely warnings of serious crimes when there may be a threat to others, and to keep a public log of campus incidents. SDSU is in full compliance with this federal mandate, and our Safety and Security Reports are available to the entire campus community.

The Clery Act also requires universities to offer prevention programs to the campus community. To comply, we provide a variety of programs such as:

  • Escort Service
  • Safety programs for students living in residence halls
  • Safety awareness and education at campus orientation
  • R.A.D. Program — a rape aggression defense training for women
  • Security Surveys

You are encouraged to make use of these valuable safety precautions. Our Public Safety officers would much rather meet you in one of our prevention programs than take a crime report from you regarding an incident that might have been prevented. We are dedicated to educating the campus community about personal crime prevention strategies to reduce the likelihood of crime on and off campus. For additional information, download a brochure from our publications page, visit the links below, or feel free to contact us with your questions or comments.
