General information

The San Diego State University Police Department has a force of 34 sworn police officers and 67 support staff, with plans of increasing in size with 10 additional officers in the next year. Our police officers are graduates of the California Peace Officers Standards Training Academy and have peace officer powers throughout the State of California. Whether on foot, behind the wheel of a patrol car, or patrolling on bicycle, they are here to protect and serve the campus community and adjacent neighborhood 24 hours a day. The officers work in a diverse environment and take pride in delivering superior law enforcement services to the College Area Community. Our officers responded to over 57,000 calls for service in 2007. Our department offers a wide variety of opportunities from basic patrol functions to specialty positions. Some of those positions include:

  • Field Training Officer (FTO)
  • K9 Officer
  • Bike Team
  • Detectives/Investigations Unit
  • Motorcycle/Traffic Unit

  • Law Enforcement Explorer Coordinator
